Made an Offer

We had a really nice two week vacation in California. Spent half the time with Holly, Erich, and the grandkids and about 5 days with Tom and Mona! We did a lot of house hunting in Ojai but were very disappointed with what you can get for $500K--a fixer upper that needed at least $100K put into it! We looked in Ventura, too, but you can't touch anything decent under $700K (unless you want to live in a 1 or 2 bedroom with no lot).

So, we ended up looking in Merced and actually put an offer on two houses. The first one was rejected but the second one was accepted. Unfortunately, the Bear Creek house is a "short sale" so the sellers' bank may or may not accept it. And, it could take several months before we find out anything. It's probably best if we keep looking and come up with some other options, just in case.

We don't plan on putting the house on the market yet until we know for sure whether or not we'll get the Bear Creek house. If we don't get it, we don't want to be stuck without a house if this one sells right away. I don't think the prices have gone up yet here in Sully Station so it wouldn't hurt to wait until the spring to list. We'll just have to see what happens in California.
